Who are you remembering this season?

Dear ones...

As the harvest season nears and the days near Hallows, I ask you this:

Who do you remember this season, and how will you do so?

I carry the memory of my departed father, and choose to remember him along with my grandfather who passed a couple of years ago in the manner offered to me when the eldest passed first...
Being an entertainer, I will carry the memory physically in the SF and Tuscon processions, in the form of a soldier, along with a group of stilters carrying soldiers from around the world.
If you are in the SF,CA area or Tuscon, AZ area, and would like to share in a moving meditation of sorts, I make this offer...

I am building life sized effigies, to be dressed in the clothes of the deceased, which will them be carried through the procession by their survivors to a final resting place near the altars. Families are encouraged to bring images, flowers, etc, to decorate the resting place.

If this experience moves you to be a part of this project, please contact me directly ASAP, so I may estimate materials for the project.

Regardless of how you choose to remember,
be it a wake or a single candle,
the important part is to remember...
How will you?

So far I have a mini triptych on my wall with family members up to my great-grandmother. They were card players and beer drinkers so I'm putting out my fraternal grandma's cards and maybe her cribbage board by the triptych with a can of Oly or Hamm's (oldtime country folk, no microbrews, although...). Tempted to put together a card game here for the occasion.

I raise an old milwaukee to the card game...
In the spirit of an Irish wake,
it's good to remember the soul while enjoying their favorite pasttimes...

When my father was passing, I took his spot at his favorite bar almost nightly, to enjoy the people he chose to spend his last days with, drinking and dancing and laughing...

Well... I didn't want to let my secret out but... I was thinking seriously about an altar. :) Originally I was planning to do a tribute to the Ramones but I think several people will be doing that since 2 of the Ramones are buried at Hollywood Forever. So I thought to myself... Hunter S. Thompson! I'm hoping that no one will steal this idea. *crossing fingers*

No one else's remeberance will mean as much to you as your own altar, yet the memory of such public figures is important to the community as a whole, so I encourage you to follow your own heart in your actions and find comraderie among those moved to do the same...

Probably a candle for each. Maybe do something more. Depends on what kind of time I have, and how much I can get my act together to do something.
Oh, and probably ring bells. (Yeah, I'm one of those odd ones that goes along with the "every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings" philosophy. )
