de los Muertos Procession and Festival of Altars at
Garfield Park, on November 2, 2005.
Dia de los Muertos is an annual Meso-American
celebration dedicated to our ancestors and loved ones
that are no longer with us. We celebrate the Day of
the Dead by creating sacred space with art
installations, performances and a walking procession
which help us contemplate our personal existence,
mortality and celebration of life.
Five local artists have been commissioned to build
large scale altar installation in Garfield Park.
Please bring flowers, photos, mementos, food and/or
drink to celebrate the lives of those who have passed
on.
We also welcome anyone to to create an altar in
Garfield Park in honor of their ancestors, loved ones,
friends that have passed away. For more information on
the Festival of Altars, call Lila 415.336.7336 or
visit our website at www.dayofthedeadsf.org.

Thu, November 3, 2005 - 10:59 AMFor the first time in 15 years, i think i understand the route. i'll blame the shrooms, which i no longer do because i take Dante every year now ..
Say, it seemed to me like the procession was half the size of last year's, although the weather was better this time ..
