Just wanted to say Hello. Just thought I would would check this place out, see if I could get to know some like minded folk. Maybe they are here...mayhap they aren't.
I love the spirituality, idea's and artwork that surround this day. I've decorated my house with it...and rather like the idea of celebrating a passing, rather than mourning it.

I tip my hat to all!!!

Bienvenitos Reverend! You are so correct. In Mexico we celebrate death .By remembering and honoring the dead they are kept alive. It is a serious and important day in Mexico. It goes back to early Aztec , Mayan beliefs. Did you know that Ancient Mayans thought that you return , reincarnated as hummingbirds or butterflies? Love your pics!

I didn't know about the hummingbirds and butterflies...unfortunatly most everything I know I have gleaned from various books I have collected. One of my goals is to go to Mexico and celebrate it one year. That will upset my friends since they rely on me every year...but they will get over it.

I take it quite seriously...but I also think that those that I love that have passed would want to have a good time when they come visit. I do it up. :-)

Welcome to the tribe Reverend. I really want to celebrate it in Mexico someday too. I'm lucky to live in Arizona where we have a lot of local DDLM celebrations, but I would love to see it where it originated, to see the old cemetaries decorated with flowers.

new here as well. Greetings to all:-) This day helped me in many ways. One year I lost 6 friends/family, I found it much better to celebrate their life and my love for them. It's like you get to party with your friends both dead and alive! And the art,my art-what a wonderful way to express oneself and family.~R
        Teresita-thanks for the info:-)
